Your first time filler visit always starts with a free consultation. This is where Dr. Sabrina or one of our licensed injectors sits down with you, reviews your medical history, and asks what bothers you when you look in the mirror.

We’ll talk about your goals in plain language. Want fuller lips but not “done” looking? Hoping to lift hollow cheeks or sharpen your jawline? We’ll map out which areas to treat and which product fits best — Juvederm Ultra or Restylane for lips, Juvederm Voluma for cheeks, or the RHA Collection for moving areas like the lower face.

You’ll also get a clear price up front. No per-unit math. Most facial areas run $695 per syringe, lips start at $495 for a half-syringe, and a full Facial Balancing Package (3 syringes) is $1,750. We answer every question before you decide to move forward.

Numbing and What the Treatment Feels Like

Here’s the good news: modern hyaluronic acid filler treatments are far more comfortable than most people expect. We use two layers of numbing.

First, we apply a strong topical numbing cream to the treatment area for about 15-20 minutes. Second, the filler itself contains lidocaine — a numbing agent built into the gel. As we inject, the area goes more numb with each pass.

Most patients describe the feeling as a light pinch or pressure. Lips tend to be the most sensitive area, but even there, the discomfort is brief. The whole injection process usually takes 15-30 minutes once you’re numb. We work in small amounts, check the mirror with you, and adjust as we go.

Downtime: What the Next Few Days Look Like

One of the biggest questions about what to expect with fillers is downtime. The honest answer: it’s mild, but it’s real.

Right after treatment, expect some swelling. Lips can look 30-50% bigger than the final result for the first 24-48 hours — totally normal. Cheeks and jawline swell less but can feel firm or tender. You might have small red dots at the injection points that fade within a few hours.

Bruising is possible but not guaranteed. Some people get none; others have small bruises that last 5-7 days. Avoid blood thinners like ibuprofen, fish oil, and alcohol for 24-48 hours before and after to lower your risk.

Most patients return to work the next day. We do ask you to skip the gym, hot yoga, saunas, and facials for 24-48 hours. Sleep with your head slightly elevated the first night to reduce swelling.

Aftercare Tips for the First Two Weeks

Good aftercare protects your investment. Here’s what we recommend:

• Use a cold compress (not ice directly on skin) for 10 minutes at a time during the first 24 hours to reduce swelling.
• Drink plenty of water — hyaluronic acid attracts water, which helps fillers settle nicely.
• Skip dental work for 2 weeks if possible, since it can shift filler in nearby areas.
• Avoid pressing or massaging the area unless we specifically tell you to.
• Hold off on flights for 1-2 weeks when you can — cabin pressure can increase swelling.

Mild lumps or unevenness in the first week are normal as the product settles. Don’t panic. By day 14, your filler has integrated into your tissue and you’re seeing the real result.

Your Follow-Up Visit and Long-Term Results

About two weeks after treatment, we bring you back for a complimentary follow-up. This is a key part of the experience that many med spas skip.

At follow-up, Dr. Sabrina checks your results in good lighting, with the swelling fully gone. If anything needs a small touch-up — a touch more volume on one side, a tiny bit to balance the lips — we discuss it then. Additional syringes at follow-up are $450, less than a first syringe.

Most hyaluronic acid fillers last 6-18 months. Lips tend to be on the shorter end because they move so much. Cheeks and jawline often last longer. According to FDA labeling for products like Juvederm Voluma, results can persist up to two years in deeper tissue areas. We’ll set a maintenance plan that fits your goals and budget.
